US-based company delivers design improvements to dramatically reduce the customer’s installation costs, along with manufacturing efficiency to enable re-shoring of production from China to upstate New York
Phelps, NY – Dec. 8, 2016 – Z-AXIS, Inc. today announced that it has completed an electronic design services contract and begun volume manufacturing of a new, high-efficiency LED lighting system for a major new customer. Z-AXIS is shipping several thousand printed circuit boards (PCBs) per month for the new product from its design and manufacturing center near Rochester, New York.
LED Lighting System Design
Under the design services agreement, Z-AXIS engineers designed circuits and PCB layouts to better meet the customer’s product goals. The new circuit designs boost energy efficiency by 10% over the customer’s original design, delivering energy savings for end users and helping the customer increase its product sales. The new PCB layout incorporates features that make it faster and easier for the customer to install the LED boards into their final system, dramatically reducing their labor costs.

Upon completing the design phase, Z-AXIS won the resulting manufacturing contract to produce the boards in Western New York. By offering competitive manufacturing costs and dramatically lower shipping costs, Z-AXIS allowed the customer to save money by re-shoring its production from China. Lead times are significantly shorter as well.
