February 9, 2016 – Z-AXIS has added a new Speedprint SP710AVI stencil printer to its SMT work cell in its upstate New York manufacturing center. The SP710AVI features high print accuracy and fast set-up time, key benefits in the high-mix, high-speed production of fine-pitch SMT printed circuit board assemblies at Z-AXIS.
A stencil printer deposits solder paste on printed circuit boards before surface mount technology (SMT) components are placed into the paste. The new SP700AVI stencil printer’s high accuracy in aligning the board with the stencil ensures higher throughput and quality, especially for boards with very fine pitch SMT components. Speedprint’s Advanced Vision Technology provides outstanding image quality for inspection and enables daily self-calibration of the printer.
With the new stencil printer, Z-AXIS manufacturing engineers have reduced set-up time for new jobs by 50% to 75%. Additional features include the ability to dispense glue to secure parts that may move in the solder during reflow, and to dispense solder paste on a single isolated area of a previously-populated board to speed rework when needed.
